Best Practices in E- Learning

The Third Annual Educational Symposium organized by the College of Education at Qatar University started on Saturday March 24th, 2007. The three-day symposium, entitled “Best Practices in E-Learning,” includes sessions and workshops discussing E-Education, E-Teaching and E- Learning, as well as issues related to planning and implementing those practices. In the opening session, attended by Dr. Sheikha Bint Jabor Al Thani, Qatar University Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hissa Mohammad Sadek, the Dean of the College, talked about the importance and necessity of E-Education, and this symposium, in supporting and improving traditional education. Dr. Sadek pointed out the significant role technology is playing in the education process and added: “Technology cannot replace teachers, but teachers who know how to use technology are able to replace those who lack that skill.”

The President of the conference organizing committee, Prof. Dr. Hanna Habib Ramlah, in his welcoming remarks described how e-learning had become an effective means in current education. He noted that many issues related to e-learning have to be raised and discussed by educators.
