II Congreso CREAD Andes y II Encuentro Virtual Educa Ecuador

En octubre del 2005 tuvo lugar en Loja el primer congreso sobre “Calidad y Acreditación Internacional en Educación Superior a Distancia”, convocado por las mismas instituciones. En el transcurso del mismo tuvo lugar la creación del Instituto Latinoamericano y del Caribe de Calidad en Educación Superior a Distancia (CALED). El tema de la calidad en ESaD sigue siendo clave para nuestro subcontinente, además de un elemento esencial para la convergencia en educación superior entre nuestros países y el horizonte de integración con el Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior. Durante este tiempo han aparecido además, nuevos e interesantes retos para la ESaD, la Web 2.0 y la proliferación de los recursos educativos abiertos, que merecen una seria reflexión por constituirse junto con la calidad y la convergencia en los elementos centrales de la prospectiva en Educación Superior a Distancia.

Contaremos con aportes de importantes asociaciones de diversos continentes, así como de expertos clave en estas temáticas con la idea de generar un espacio de discusión y estudio que nos proyecte hacia el futuro.
La temática girará en torno a:

1. Calidad de la Educación Superior a Distancia (ESaD)
2. Espacios de convergencia en ESaD
3. Recursos Educativos Abiertos (OERs)
4. Retos educativos de la Web 2.0

Comunicaciones PRESENTACIÓN DE TRABAJOS En las sesiones paralelas se abordarán los temas relacionadas con las áreas temáticas del Congreso, mediante la presentación de comunicaciones. EL LIDERAZGO EN LA GESTIÓN DE LA CALIDAD DE LA EDUCACIÓN A DISTANCIA COMO INNOVACIÓN

(Leadership in the management of quality of distance education as an innovation)

RESUMEN

El objetivo principal de este trabajo es contribuir a un mayor y mejor conocimiento sobre el ejercicio de un liderazgo efectivo con miras a lograr una mejor gestión de la calidad de la educación a distancia y de su difusión en la sociedad como innovación. En la primera parte, se definen algunos conceptos básicos y relevantes para el logro del objetivo enunciado. En la segunda parte, se discute cómo se relacionan esos conceptos entre si y se integran en un marco de referencia para el ejercicio de un liderazgo efectivo para la gestión de la calidad en la educación a distancia como innovación.

Palabras clave: liderazgo en la educación a distancia, gestión de la calidad de la educación a distancia, difusión de la educación a distancia como innovación.

ABSTRACT

The main objective of this paper is to contribute to the achievement of a better and increased knowledge on the exercise of leadership, with the aim of improving the management of the quality of distance education, and its diffusion in society as an innovation. In the first part, some basic and relevant concepts to achieve the above mentioned objective are defined. In the second part, we discuss how those concepts relate between them and integrate in a framework to promote the development of an effective leadership in managing the quality of distance education as an innovation.

Key words: leadership in distance education, management of quality of distance education, diffusion of distance education as an innovation.

De la educación a distancia a la educación virtual. Nuevo libro de García Aretio como coordinador

La Editorial ARIEL publicó en 2001 el libro Educación a distancia. De la teoría a la práctica, del Dr. Lorenzo García Aretio. La obra que ahora presentamos es una continuación de aquella. En los últimos cinco años el fenómeno de las TIC aplicadas a la educación a distancia ha supuesto una auténtica convulsión en los sectores educativos y de formación de todo el mundo. En este libro se trata de dar respuesta desde una perspectiva teórica, tecnológica y práctica a toda esa problemática. Se abordan cuestiones básicas y fundamentales del fenómeno, relacionadas con la sociedad de la información y del conocimiento, así como con el cambio de paradigma educativo. Se acometen nuevos enfoques de todo lo relacionado con el elearning y las cibercomunidades de aprendizaje. Teaching Art at a Distance

Teaching practical art courses by distance learning has always been a challenge for both teacher and student. Text-based subject disciplines present fewer problems than art courses in the online realm because art courses require that students create and submit visual materials for appraisal and comment.

At the Studio Art School in the UK, we provide nationally accredited art and design courses for those who choose to learn online. Our Web-based delivery system enables students to receive teaching materials and upload images of their work at each stage of development without the delays, transport costs, and security problems associated with traditional distance-learning courses. We use new technology to facilitate the acquisition of traditional skills.

Access for Everyone
When my colleagues and I first suggested delivering practical art and design courses online, we did not anticipate the tidal wave of criticism and howling gasps of incredulity that would greet our proposal. We became acutely aware that when one sticks one’s head above the safety of the parapet of traditional art education, it’s like asking to be shot full in the face.

The salvos came from two distinct fronts: the «technically, it can’t be done» crowd, and the «aesthetically, it shouldn’t be done» crowd. Each side seemed determined to believe I was claiming e-learning to be superior to classroom learning; I never have and never will. Not across the board. But I can give you examples of circumstances where e-learning is more effective than classroom-based teaching—for example, when classroom-based learning is not available to a particular student. Isaac Greenbaum, a continuing education student at New York University, remembers the day last semester when his media studies class was settling into a discussion of its next group project. Shortly after class began, a brawny, bare-chested figure bounded in wielding a crossbow.

«This guy is shooting arrows, and if he hits you — of course, you can’t die — you get teleported to a different land. And he hit me! I got sent to, like, the Himalayas!”

Sabotage can happen when your class is held in cyberspace, where a marauding avatar may just barge in and audit. Avatars are the virtual personas that users design and embellish (with anything from wings to, well, crossbows) to navigate the digital three-dimensional world called Second Life. Much of Second Life, now occupied by some two million users, mimics real life (R.L., in the vernacular): sun, sky, trees, waterways and anything users think to build. Were avatars the size of their human creators, the Second Life “grid” — a mainland and surrounding islands that users can buy with real money — would be the equivalent of more than 100 square miles. Scores of colleges and universities have set up campuses on islands, where classes meet and students interact in real time. They can hold chat discussions and create multimedia presentations from virtual building blocks called prims. The laws of physics don’t necessarily apply.(leer más…)

Nueva etapa de la revista Ried "Revista Iberoamericana de Edcación a Distancia"

Aquí tenéis el enlace a la nueva etapa de Ried, una revista veterana que inicia nuevo ciclo de la mano de Lorenzo García Aretio

PRESENTACIÓN

La Asociación Iberoamericana de Educación Superior a Distancia (AIESAD) es una entidad creada para impulsar la Educación a Distancia en beneficio de los pueblos de Iberoamérica. Entre sus objetivos están los de investigación, información e intercambio de experiencias.

La Revista Iberoamericana de Educación a Distancia (RIED) se configura como el instrumento de la AIESAD para la difusión de trabajos de carácter científico, experiencias, convocatorias e información bibliográfica, dentro del ámbito de la enseñanza/aprendizaje abierto y a distancia en sus diferentes formulaciones y presentaciones.

La RIED, a partir de 2006 se presenta en formato impreso y electrónico con idénticos contenidos en ambos casos. La RIED ha realizado un gran esfuerzo por digitalizar todos los números publicados con anterioridad a 2006 y ofrecerlos íntegramente, también en su formato electrónico, en este sitio Web.

La RIED en su formato impreso puede recibirse por suscripción. El formato electrónico está inicialmente abierto a toda la comunidad ocupada y preocupada por la calidad de la modalidad educativa a distancia.

La RIED incorpora progresivamente, tanto a su edición impresa como electrónica, todos los parámetros e indicadores propios de las publicaciones de carácter científico de relevancia. De igual manera, y para ello, se ha dotado de un prestigioso y renovado Comité Científico que velará por la alta calidad de los trabajos en ella publicados, mediante el sistema de evaluación denominado “doble ciego”.
