Washington (DC, USA), October 2006 – A bill now before the United States Congress could radically transform learning and training in America. If approved, the DO IT bill could generate as much as one billion dollars to support technology-based learning in the US.

Over an extended period, the U.S. Congress has received at least twelve reports and key statements that all point in the same direction: In order to maintain its global leadership through the 21st century, the US must transform its learning and training in all fields of education. Subsequently, the foundation of a national endowment of learning and training is under way, similar to those for the arts or the sciences. DO IT, the Digital Opportunity Investment Trust, could fund projects such as the digitization of library, museum, and university collections, content development of vocational materials for workforce retraining, as well as lifelong-learning support, to name just a few.(leer más…)
